We hope that all the children will enjoy their time at Mapplewell, feeling secure and valued and therefore able to learn and develop. We also hope that parents feel equally comfortable in the school and view school life as an extension of the locality.
Parents are welcome to discuss their child’s progress, behaviour or anxieties without waiting for formal occasions.
Teachers are always available at the end of the school day, but if any parent would like to see their own child
working in the classroom, or would like to work with them, it can be arranged. Parental help in the classrooms
is always encouraged and valued. Please see your child’s class teacher if you wish to help.
There are other more formal occasions when parents are invited to school. These are the usual activities
such as assemblies, concerts performances and sports days.
The school reports formally to parents three times a year. There are two Parents’ Evenings held each year,
one in the Autumn term and one in the Spring term. This includes nursery parents. Additionally in July parents will receive a written school report.
When children are in Foundation Stage and Key Stage 1 parents are usually daily visitors, either bringing
children to school or collecting them at the end of the day. These daily visits help us to foster close relationships
in order to form a home-school partnership working together for the benefit of the children.
As the children get older and grow physically they become more independent and we see less of parents,
but parents should not feel any less involved because children always benefit from parents showing interest
and offering support.
