At Mapplewell we shape our curriculum to offer a wide ranging skillset; that empowers our pupils to leave Primary Education inspired and motivated to learn more.
The curriculum is designed around building skills rather than acquiring facts. It is built upon knowing that learning is a journey, and that our curriculum offer will lead our pupils to a brighter future.
Active learning is of high importance and we have sculpted a curriculum that engages all learners in a variety of fun and exciting ways.
Our curriculum gives our pupils opportunities at developing their independence, in every aspect of the word. From becoming a well-rounded human being - to taking charge of their own learning. We have designed the curriculum to inspire our pupils to find out more.

We have developed our curriculum, based on the National Curriculum, to ensure that we are able to offer our young people the best education possible.

We value academic success but also nurture an understanding of the parallel development of our pupils’ personal and social skills, firmly believing that these are fundamental to them achieving success in all aspects of their future lives as a citizen in modern Britain.

We plan our lessons together in year group phases. This means, for example, that Year 1 and 2 are able to work together collaboratively. This helps greatly for our mixed aged classes ensuring the curriculum is pitched correctly for all pupils. Lessons are differentiated accordingly to meet the needs of all pupils.

Working in this way means that we operate a two year topic cycle to ensure coverage and no repetition for the pupils.
