Attendance and Punctuality
At Mapplewell Primary School we recognise the need for pupils to attend school regularly and punctually so that they get the maximum benefit from the learning opportunities that we offer. We strongly believe that regular attendance boosts academic achievement and enhances personal development.

Absence from school
If your child is ill and is not going to attend school it is essential that we know as soon as possible. Either drop a note in to school, or contact us by telephone between 8:00 a.m. and 9:30 a.m. It is a legal requirement that you let us know your child's name, their class, the reason for absence and how long you expect them to be away from school.
Medical / Dental Appointments
We strongly advise that parents/carers try to make appointments out of school hours or in the school holidays if possible, as time out of school disrupts pupil's learning. However if this is not possible please advise the school as soon as possible of the time and date of their appointment.
leave of absence
The Headteacher does not grant leave of absence for family holidays except in exceptional circumstances.
Permission to remove your child from school during the term time must be sought by completing a Leave of Absence Request Form well before the event (this form can also be obtained from the school office). The Headteacher will need time to consider the request and will take into account the pupil's attendance record. The school's current attendance target is 97%.
